Lock insert
At one time, while working for another maker, I would get knives in for repairs that often included a sloppy
lock. Some makers hammer the lock bar in an effort to stretch the material for a temporary fix. The only real
solution was to replace the frame, as we often did at great expense.
My When I left there to start Fairall Designs, I vowed to correct as many of the numerous problems as I once
encountered, with real and lasting solutions! These solutions can be seen throughout my product line in the
innovations like this lock insert. The proof that I have made a huge contribution to bettering my craft is in the
fact that, in 5+ years since creating Fairall Designs, out of 500 + knives, I have had only three knives come
back for repairs! Two of those repairs were very inexpensive for me to correct due to my foresight in design. I
aimed at making a knife that lasts, and in the event it needs a repair, it won't cost me or the customer much to
achieve. I have overcome most if not all of those problems I had in the past, with real solutions that work!
Summation:
Price to replace frame to fix sloppy lock the old way : Frame cost $275.00 + 6 hours labor + shop fee at
$50.00 per hour. Total cost $575 + shipping. All at my expense! I just lost the full price of a new knife!! Thats
why the other guy's peen to lengthen the lock bar !!!
Price to fix sloppy lock with my lock insert : Titanium lock insert price $2.00 + time to install and fit 1/2 hour at
a total cost to me of $27.00 + shipping.
