Here is my overdraft protection. In the eventuality of wear, it is adjustable. But the one
pictured went 3,000 openings and had no need for adjustments when sold. Here's why.
You see, when slapping open any frame lock knife, there is a weakness in the lock bar side
of the frame. This is caused by the cut made to create the lock bar, and allows that side of
the frame to stretch when the blade comes to the open position and hits the stop. This
causes axle tilt on the blade pivot, and the lock bar goes farther than it should. Here is
where the real trouble starts. When the frame flexes back, like a spring, it compacts the
titanium surface of the lock bar where it contacts the super hard blade surface,and causes it
to stick. Titanium being much softer at 46 Rockwell is filed away by that 59 Rockwell blade
steel every time you open it to hard ! Then you have blade rock and have to bend the bar to
make contact, or it moves over because it was over bent in the first place. It simply can't
happen with this design. You will pass it down to your great grandson, and it will never have
been back in for repairs. Just one 16th turn out on that screw allows the lock bar to move in
several thousanth's, and back into adjustment. And here is the final advantage to this set up.
I can over bend the lock bar gaining superior lockup strength without the concern of lock
over run, and that makes this a much stronger knife! My OD system is available on many of
my knives by special order. Try it and be amazed.
